Microsoft shuts down Internet Explorer after 25 years of service

Internet Explorer, it was there when it all started, but sadly it won’t be there to see how everything ends. Microsoft has finally decided to let go of the Internet Explorer.

As was mentioned in a blog post, Microsoft’s 365 product team confirmed that it will no longer be supporting the Internet Explorer 11 from 30th of November 2020.

By next year on 17th of August, none of Microsoft’s 365 app and services will work with the browsers. Any websites that were designed for the Explorer will have to manage without it.

The post says the following, “”This means that after the above dates, customers will have a degraded experience or will be unable to connect to Microsoft 365 apps and services on IE 11,” They also added, “”For degraded experiences, new Microsoft 365 features will not be available or certain features may cease to work when accessing the app or service via IE 11.”

RIP Internet Explorer (1995-2020)

Can’t say we didn’t see this coming though. Better browsers had entered the market, and Internet Explorer wasn’t really offering anything different or ground-breaking.

Other browsers have definitely put up an unprecedented standard and it would only seem natural that the weakest of the lot would eventually perish. Nonetheless, nobody will ever forget the famous Internet Explorer and all that it stood for. We’ve come a long way, but everyone’s memories began with the Explorer, and with it shall they always remain!
