Apple’s apparently started an initiative to lower their carbon footprint on the world and thus decided against packaging their new iPhone 12 lineup with EarPods and Chargers.
Unfortunately the new iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini will not be released with EarPods and power adapter.
In it’s “Hi, Speed” event, Apple showed us an impressive new lineup of their iPhone 12 armed with the 5G technology.
Apple stated, “As part of our efforts to reach our environmental goals, iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini do not include a power adapter or EarPods. Please use your current Apple power adapter and headphones, or purchase these accessories separately.”
Anyone who ends up picking the iPhone 12 down the line will find that they only have a USB-C to Lightning cable. The move intends to cut down on Apple’s own carbon emissions that will be related to the iPhone 12 models by minimizing the use of valuable resources.
The bold decision also makes the size of packaging drastically smaller and allowing Apple to increase the number of boxes that can be shipped on pallets by 70%.
According to the numbers, Apple will be able to cut down on carbon emissions by more than 2 million metric tons each year. That’s basically reducing 450,000 cars on the road each year.
The entire idea as a whole seems to be a good long-term plan for cutting down on our impact on the environment. Not a lot of people have been taking into consideration, the impact of their actions on the world around them, and it’s nice to see Apple taking that initiative.
With all that, Apple is also trying to promote MagSafe wireless charging. And not just that, they’re trying to introduce people to all sorts of ecosystem-friendly accessories for easy attachment and faster wireless charging.
You should go give Apple’s website a little go-through to see what they have in store.
